2020 is shaping up to be quite an incredible year and auspicious decade. I firmly believe that this is the year of safety – where feminine voices can be heard clearly by all – whether expressed by women or men. I am proclaiming this The Year of Emergence and will be writing a blog each month on topics that I find provocative and important.

Here is the current plan:

  • January – The Year of Truth
  • February – Relationship Communications
  • March – Energetic Excess
  • April – Inside Out Biology
  • May – Peri-Menopause
  • June – Privileged Parenting
  • July – DNA
  • August – AI and Technology
  • September – Nature and Biomimicry
  • October – Volition
  • November – Grace and Generosity
  • December – Making Love

January’s topic is political re-balancing. What does that mean? To me, it means taking inventory of our views on politics and choosing to act in a way that is aligned with your values. Take a lot of time to reflect on this as it is becoming absolutely critical that we learn and flex our political muscles. The Body Politic is all of us. When we choose to engage, the collective body (aka Democracy) is strengthened. What are your values and how can you actions demonstrate these values? In what ways are your actions flaccid and weak? What kind of new workout could help you feel engaged and politically aligned with your values? Every action you take matters.

Personally I value equality and justice. My work centers on the intersection of climate, spirit, and the feminine. So…

I went to the heart of the women’s movement in January to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of women’s suffrage, the right to vote, the 19th amendment. It’s been 172 years of women advocating for equality since the birth of the women’s movement, so I joined a rally/march in Seneca Falls NY, home of the Women’s Rights National Historical Park (not the most conducive name for this great space). I was reminded that the Haudenosaunee six-nation confederacy (also known as Iroquois) served as a lived inspiration of what equality looked like as well as what an ideal, respectful, and deferential political system could be for non-native women.

Feminism: noun – The radical notion that women are people
RBG in the House!

With 38 states already signing on to grant women equal rights (Virginia being the most recent), there is hope that 2020 is the year we can breathe and begin to re-balance the political landscape of America! What do you think that needs to look like? Women: Let’s make it happen!

With love and peace,

Karen
